The History of our Rugby League Club in Croudace Bay, NSW
Club History
Reg Squires and Bruce Gill were chosen as the club’s first president and secretary, respectively, in 1970. With the help of local families, land was cleared in 1973 to create the rugby league fields we called home for 50 years. Operating a canteen out of a caravan and the wives and mothers of the committee washing the jerseys, run raffles and organise presentation days.
With over 30 teams competing each season, we have gone a long way since then to become one of the largest clubs in the Newcastle Junior division. Now operating out of new premises, next door to our original club, our committee still work to improve the grounds and facilities for our players, to ensure our Devil’s have a great place to come to hone their skills & we hope they will continue on the “Red Devil” legacy in years to come.
